I bought my 1930 Royal No. 10 in August, 2023 and I've been quite happy with it from day one. The only thing I wondered about was why it didn't type with more contrast… you know, darker. Well it only took me a year to finally suspect the ribbon. Duh! The ribbon it came with was, I believe, nylon or cotton. So I went online and found Joe Van Cleave's very useful exploration of ribbons for HIS Royal 10. He discovered that a silk ribbon worked best, and so I ordered one. Just installed it today and wow! Feel like I'm seeing what my Royal 10 can do for the very first time!

After lucking into some vintage silk ribbons, I thought I should try a fresh modern one. While the modern one isn’t quite as good as the vintage, its still a great ribbon otherwise., and puts down a nice imprint on my H3K. Was my first order from Ribbons Unlimited, and everything everyone says is true and more. Lovely company and great experience. I’ll be back when I need more! :)
